Barb Wire (1996) Survival Lesson
Survival Lesson: Be careful what you say to people. Even innocent comments can convey information.
Barb Wire's brother goes to the hideout of the resistance leader named Spike to convey some information. When confronted by someone else, he says he will only speak to Spike, but then 2 seconds later conveys part of the information that he supposedly will only convey to Spike. It doesn't make sense. Don't do something like that.
Synopsis: A babe walks around kicking the crap out of people in order to steal someone's eyes to save the world somehow.
Rating: 4.5/10.This movie isn't as bad as I thought it would be based upon what I had always heard about it. It has a workable story, good pacing, and decent action and stunt sequences. Most of the acting is the exaggerated villainy type one can expect from comic book movies. As for Pamela, her physical attributes are focused on a bit more than her acting skills, which is fine if that is your thing. One good thing about this movie is that it is pretty consistent. If you don't like it in the first five minutes, turn it off.
The whole plot device that a pair of contacts can defeat a retinal scanner is a bit silly, but maybe back in 1996 it was so seemingly high-tech that no one would think about it.
I am unfamiliar with the comic book that the movie is based upon, but other reviews seem disappointed in it as an adaptation, so you might want to skip it if you are a fan of the comic. Watching the movie I definitely got the inkling that the Barb Wire character could have been very interesting, so it is a bit unfortunate. Pamela Lee just isn't really the one for a deeper portrayal, and they also would have needed some far better writing.
