Your Highness (2011) Survival Lesson
Survival Lesson: Be tight-lipped with strangers. Trust takes time and there is no reason a stranger should have it.
Synopsis: A loser somehow becomes a hero and saves the day against a cliche evil wizard bent on sacrificing a virgin.
Rating: 4/10. Overall, the movie is well-made. It has a good pace, the scenes and effects are good, and the story makes sense (in a nonsense fantasy way), but ultimately what the movie comes down to (in my opinion) is how one feels about Danny McBride. While I am not above laughing at his fart-joke level of comedy, I just don't find him funny.
From a mere story perspective (which maybe doesn't matter so much for a crude comedy), I take some objection to the loser (McBride) suddenly becoming a hero. This sort of transformation isn't unusual for movies, but there is usually some actual transformation; a process of inner reflection, successfully completing a challenging task, etc., but in his case it just sort of happens and I find that to be unsatisfying.
